The National Environment Conference (NEC) 2013 which is an annual event by AsiaInc Forum was recently held on June 4th, 2013 at the Indera Samudera Grand Hall, The Empire Hotel & Country Club. The event which is attended by Senior Government Officials, Corporates and NGOs aimed to address the Environment Issues that the world is facing. This year’s NEC highlighted the issue on: “Responding to Climate Change: How can Brunei Darussalam make a difference?”
SCOT’s Founder, Anwar Mohammad, was invited as a panelist for the Brainstorming on Youth Involvement session which discussed the issues on “How Young People can Make a Difference”. Together joining Anwar Mohammad on the panel discussion were Ms Amanda McKenzie, Co-Founder, Australia Youth Climate Coalition & Ms Khairunnisa Ashari, Co-Founder & Community Engagement Director for Green Brunei. The panel was moderated by Ms Hjh Siti Rozana DP Hj Md Yunos, Head of Corporate Services, BAG Networks Sdn Bhd.
SCOT also participated in the Green Expo whereby it gave us the opportunity to showcase our project specifically the Green Xchange Project which addresses the issue of waste management through recycling and at the same time giving an opportunity for residents of the community on which the project is conducted an extra source of sustenance by exchanging trash with commodities. The Green Expo was officiated by YB Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Utama Dato Seri Setia Awg Hj Yahya bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, Minister, Ministry of Industry & Primary Resources.
