Youth Against Poverty workshop 2016

The Youth Against Poverty workshop (YAP) was organised by the Society for Community Outreach & Training (SCOT) and was held from the 19th until 21st August 2016 at the Silaturrahim Hall, Youth Centre in Bandar Seri Begawan, Brunei Darussalam.

It was open to any young members of the public between the age of 17-27 years old with a determined interest in wanting to help those in need. With the theme ‘Educate. Empower. Execute’, the workshop aimed to nurture a better understanding towards the issue of poverty in Brunei, encourage civic engagement and develop innovative ideas to help alleviate poverty in Brunei Darussalam.

Participants underwent a Learning Journey activity, Focus Group Discussions and idea brainstorming. The group with the most creative and innovative project idea was granted $500 to execute their project along with aid and guidance from SCOT Executives and support from local authorities and established institutions in Brunei to implement their ground-up project.
