Launching Of Green Xchange Project

Recycling is one of the ways to save the earth from continue to be ruined by rubbish created by human. Recycled items can be turned into beneficial products and can be a source of income. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports stressed the matter at the launching the 6th Green Xchange Project at Kampong Batu Marang yesterday morning.

Datin Paduka Hajah Adina binti Othman said since the Green Xchange Project was introduced by the Society For Community Outreach and Training, SCOT, four years ago, the organisation has collected more than 26-thousand kilograms of recycle items. Apart from that, it Is also able to improve and enhance the quality of environment in the country as well as showing that every human can contribute in protecting the environment.

Through the Green Xchange Project, the community is encouraged to collect recycle items such as electronic appliances, plastic, cans, aluminium as well as paper to be exchanged with basic commodity according to the fixed rate of one dollar worth of recyclable items with 1.5 kg of fragrant rice. The project also gives the country’s youth volunteers the opportunity to assist in making the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports’ mission, to promote volunteerism and self-reliance among all levels of society by the year 2015, a success.
