In an interview on the sidelines of the ceremony at the National Indoor Stadium, Wu credited love and attitude as two key ingredients of success.

He said efforts in developing the country was driven by the love he received from the public.

“When you are filled with love from people and your family, you don’t want to let them down, you want to be the best person you can be to help others,” he said.

He said youth should focus on their attitude in strengthening their knowledge and skills.

“Attitude is very important, you should never stop learning and sharing, because it feels good when helping others… you need to be hungry for success while staying humble,” he added.

According to a statement from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Wu was awarded for his contributions to the sultanate, especially in the development of entrepreneurship in Brunei and overseas.

She urged youth to be more proactive in contributing to the nation.

“Be passionate, be committed and contribute as much as you can to your country,” she said.

Khairul Azmi Salleh, vice-chairman of SCOT, said the NGO’S vision and mission pushed and motivated the organisation’s members.

He said SCOT makes it a priority to reduce poverty in Brunei by helping the underprivileged get out of the cycle of poverty.

“By helping the ones who are in need, it also pushes the committee to be more proactive, more committed to venturing into sustainable products,” he added.

The ministry said SCOT was awarded for its active implementation of programmes for youth and local communities.

“We feel very proud and humble to achieve this milestone. It’s something for us to be happy about,” said the vice-chairman.

Khairul Azmi also thanked the government for recognising the NGO’s contributions since its inception in 2011.

“We will try to keep giving back to the nation, especially towards youth, through our various projects at SCOT,” he added.
