AUDIO: They shed tears in Cambodia

Rush-Hour Chat with SCOT volunteers

TWO young Bruneians recently returned from Cambodia where they did volunteer work with underprivileged children there. We had a chat with them about the experience, including that day when they cried.

Wa’daah and Fatin went to Cambodia to teach English to children in a rural village there. The trip was made possible through ties between Brunei’s Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) and the Organization for Building Community Resources Cambodia.

Wa’daah has done volunteer work with SCOT for about a year. Fatin recently finished an 11-week syllabus under the SCOT Education Project, in which students at YDC get training to boost their confidence in their communication skills using the English language.

Earlier this month, we had a chat with SCOT founder Anwar Muhammad on the project.
