The ability of the country’s youth ‘teachers’ to think out of the box and to make themselves relevant to the target group is extremely laudable and should be emulated, not just by youths even more so, by the authority as policy makers. The Deputy Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports was speaking at the launch of the Society for Community Outreach and Training, SCOT Education 2014 in the morning.
Datin Paduka Hajah Adina said that the young people have taught the policy makers that they need to be relevant, embrace ‘change’, dare to think and think out of the box. According to Datin Paduka, during the pilot phase, youth ‘teachers learnt from experience, that effective teaching depended not just on the teachers but more so on the immersion level of the trainees. The 11-week SCOT Education Programme 2014 will commence in April and ends in July. It is a basic English course aimed to empower youths with better confidence on being able to converse in the secondary language when attending job interview. At the function, Datin Paduka Hajah Adina also presented a token of appreciation to Panaga School for donating 27 sets of SMART-boards, projectors and speakers to SCOT.
