It’s never easy to run an NGO as it requires a lot of work, team effort and dedication. The other factor that makes an NGO stands out is their consistency and commitment to the community over a period of time. I have always been impressed with SCOT Brunei as well as Beach Bunch to name a few for their continuous support to the community. SCOT stands for Society for Community Outreach and Training lend a hand in renovating a home of the family in Tutong. The home of Eddy Safwan, a retired army personnel was appreciative of the efforts of SCOT in renovating his home.
The support was also given by Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE Brunei) who collaborated with SCOT Brunei as they were able to get funds as the money raised from charities and JAPEM weren’t enough. Opportunities for Eddy also made possible by SCOT as they are pursuing a Phase I of the SCOT-Agriculture project. This would mean that Eddy will be able to gain income from such project to help him sustain in a longer run. The said project will be chicken rearing where Eddy will be able to supply chicken as a source of income. It was good to know that JAPEM-Tutong also helped in contributing to the renovation project for Eddy’s place. President of SCOT Md Khairul Azmi hopes for more support in helping the under privileged people in Brunei. Source: Daniel Wood of The Brunei Times.
