iYcc (International Youth Cultural Conference)


 

19 Scot’s committee went to Kuching, Sarawak for International Youth Cultural Conference. According to Yayasan Perpaduan Sarawak, the

Objectives of the Conference are

  1. To provide a platform for youth to share their thoughts and feelings on culture and the issue of unity and harmony among people of diverse cultural backgrounds;
  2. To enhance greater understanding and acceptance among the youth on unity across cultural diversity;
  3. To identify the role of youth in sustaining cultural unity and harmony in a borderless world; and
  4. To expose the Sarawak youth to their peers’ culture related programmes and activities regionally and globally.

  • Youth Identity & Voice
  • Dialogue and Mutual Understanding
  • Youth Aspirations
  • Youth in Action – Case Studies of Youth led Projects on Culture
  • Unity in Cultural Diversity
  • Youth and Social Entrepreneurship
  • Promoting Cultural Unity and Harmony through Social Media
  • Intermarriages – Its role in promoting cultural diversity
  • Sarawak Identity
  • Tolerance vs. Understanding

 

Conference Format are

  • Forum (3 experts and 3 youth participants)
  • Workshop
  • Focus group discussion
  • Public performance (song, theatre, dance)
  • Cultural appreciation and exchange activities
  • Cultural trips/visits
  • Roundtable setting and fun and interactive learning elements

The international conference was from 28-30 November 2012  & about 100 international youths of 18-25 years of age were involved in this event. The youths got the chance to experienced on culture through music, dance, song and daily life’s practices.
