SCOT Education

Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) in collaboration with Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Brunei through its Youth Development Centre (YDC); Organization for Building Community Resources (OBCR) Cambodia; in partnership with CfBT Education Services (B) Sdn Bhd Brunei and British High Commission is pioneering the SCOT Education Project which has entered its ninth-week since inception on April 2013.

SCOT Education involves an 11-week volunteering activity on teaching English at the Youth Development Centre (YDC) followed by a 2-weeks volunteering activity on teaching English in Cambodia.  In addition to that, two students from YDC whom have shown tremendous improvements throughout our 11-week programme will be given the opportunity to volunteer teaching English in Cambodia.

Through this project, SCOT has been active on developing a creative and yet effective tailored programme which aims to develop and improve both the adequacy and proficiency on the command of English Language for the lower academic students to help them acquire better prospects upon attending a job interview.

On June 7th, 2013, Datin Paduka Hjh Adina Othman, Deputy Minister, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports paid a visit to witness firsthand on the progress of SCOT Education held at the Youth Development Centre.  Also present was His Excellency Rob Fenn, British High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam & Dr Greg Keany, Country Director for CfBT Brunei Darussalam.
