THE British High Commission in Brunei Darussalam was keen to support and participate in Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT) initiative, El-Morad, and they look forward to more opportunities for them to inspire others.Speaking to The Brunei Times yesterday, Deputy High Commissioner Sunny Ahmed commended SCOT and the participating volunteers for their efforts in conducting a variety of activities in benefiting a noble cause.”It’s really great and inspirational. The British High Commission have been keen to support SCOT’s variety of activities and its good to see a group of young people together, inspiring others and inspiring their peers,” she said.During her visit to the fundraiser event yesterday, she praised the variety of vendors for generating and coming up with their own initiatives for “alternative economies and entrepreneurship” which ultimately created a good environment for visitors to enjoy the overall event.
She went on to say that the British High Commission’s involvement has always been part of their diversity strategy where they carry out their social responsibilities towards the community by “walking the walk and talking the talk”. They have been active in other initiatives as well namely the Pusat Ehsan as well as volunteerism where a number of them participated in making milkshakes yesterday. “I really think it’s a positive move forward and hope that they will continue with such initiatives and that the momentum will keep going,” the deputy high commissioner said.
“It’s good that they do a variety of things that lots of people can get involved in and that there are also specific things where they’re helping a particular family, for instance today, that there will be volunteers who will be building and doing things as long as the English language is teaching.”
