SIRAH Amal BIBD, an annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme initiated by Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam (BIBD) commenced again yesterday for the fourth year running, bringing cheers to underprivileged families in the Tutong District in the first leg of the month-long programme.
The heart warming initiative, held in collaboration with Society for Community Outreach & Training (SCOT) of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) is aiming to visit more homes than previous years, intending to touch the lives of 100 families in all four districts throughout the month of Syaaban.
The programme was initiated by BIBD’s CSR body with the combined efforts and resources of generous BIDB employees through internal fund raising.
“Alhamdulillah we have come to the fourth year of Sirah Amal and we will continue to brighten up the lives of underprivileged families so they can celebrate this festive occasion with smiles and peace of mind. This is also a wonderful opportunity for us to see the beauty in helping others especially with the upcoming holy month of Ramadhan,” said Hjh Nurul Akmar binti Haji Mohd Jaafar, Head of BIBD’s CSR.
Commencing the programme at BIBD Kiulap Branch yesterday, BIBD’s Managing Director, Javed Ahmad handed over boxes of food hampers to representatives of SCOT UBD, who will be assisting the bank in facilitating the distribution of the donations.
The CSR team lead by the Project Managers Adi Zul Azmi bin Hj Awg Bakar and Hjh Shamirawati Hj Azamain, together with SCOT UBD then proceeded with the visits and delivery of the donations to 12 homes in the Tutong District including that of Maidin bin Jumahat at Kg Bukit Sulang.
Throughout the initiative, BIBD will make a total of five trips and will also be visiting homes in the Belait, Temburong and Brunei-Muara Districts. The families were selected through a list compiled by a few local NGOs.
Donations in the form of food hampers as well as other daily necessities were presented to these families to help ease their burdens during the fasting month.
“With the new BIBD rebranding that underscores being Bruneian at Heart, this aligns well with BIBD’s CSR initiatives, emphasising on the values of caring for the society and we will always continue to be a stalwart partner in shaping the future of Brunei together with its people,” the bank said in a press release.
